Today was about slowly getting back to health. Levi spent the day in his PJs and slowly seemed to creep upwards in his mood and cough. It is an odd illness that now apparently has a name; H3N2 influenza. It certainly knocked us both down but at least at a time that there is at least a even money bet that we will be better by our trip, now only three days away. Levi was well enough at times, depending on the time and the amount of medication he had on board. I am about 24 hours behind him and today was still in the feverish lethargy day, but even I am pulling out of that as well. I never got the rash that so scared us all last Thursday, but the fever with this one has been impressively high! So part of today was about barely lifting my head off the couch and the other part was about entertaining Levi who alternated between the couch and running around! So we broke into some of the activities that we were going to take on the plane: we built a Pirate Ship! This pirate ship was given to Levi by an auntie and was very complicated and required large amounts of space to complete and generated a large amount of garbage. I'm glad that we decided to complete it here and not have to try to deal with all that on the plane!
Tonight the moon came up full and just beautiful! There was a red tinge in the background as the sun itself had barely set itself. The kookaburras were all laughing as the moon rose and it was a moment that you just wish lasted longer than it ever does.
Then this happened! Tonight there was a lunar eclipse! It is so much fun to watch things like this happen in the skies. It reminds me how small we all are in the workings of the world.
So... I looked up this flu on the CDC site & it says adults are contagious for 5-7 days after showing symptoms and children can be contagious for longer than that. It leaves me wondering what the risk of picking up this virus from you would be come Saturday. As much as I want to come to Levi's party, I can't risk bringing home a flu virus to Joshua or Bethany, both who could realistically die from such an illness.
