Cave Man Cake

Today Levi just got better and better.  He was too active by this afternoon, hyped up on asthma meds and from being trapped inside.  That coupled with excitement about the party tomorrow and the trip in less than a week has made this afternoon a bit of a trial.  Today when I knew that I couldn't go to work, I decided to do most of the cooking, taking some of the pressure off tomorrow.  As I cooked, at one point I looked up and laughed as I thought of the time honored question;
"you know you are the mother of a small boy when...."

"when you are watched by Bakugan figures as you cook!"

I worked on the cave man cake.  Here it is half way through:

And here it is as a finished product:

It was fun making the cake!  The bottom half is chocolate and the top little one is gluten free and nut/dairy free.  It means it will be easy to tell fairly quickly which cake to cut pieces from.  I am planning to fill the foil 'pool' with blue colored water or if I really get a wild hair, jello.  I am thinking that it will be unlikely to be filled with something to complicated!

Now if it could just stop raining for the party!  That would make the day!

  1. That's awesome! I don't like being negative, but I have to tell you that by having the gluten-free little cake resting on top of the chocolate cake, it's "contaminated" where the two meet, so make sure that when you cut pieces, you A) use a separate knife from the one that you use to cut the chocolate cake and B) cut off the part of the cake that rested against the chocolate cake, so as to keep your gluten-free & nut-free friends safe (things I've learned from parenting autistic kids who have been on a GFCF diet).

    I hope the party is fantastic and am glad to hear Levi is feeling good again. :)
