It didn't matter though as they just painted on the wall. The wall is completely hidden to the outside world and it will wear off soon enough. Then we spray painted the volcanoes and stuck the dinosaurs and trees on the outside. The kids were fascinated by the whole process and in between went out and played in the rain or the sandpit or the big tree itself! The big finale was the eruption of said volcanoes.
The recipe is baking soda (bicarbonate of soda), and vinegar. You can make it foam by adding detergent as well. If you add food coloring to the vinegar, it then becomes red 'lava'. There are directions on the Internet but the amount of all of those things are really irrelevant. We used medicine cups scoops of baking soda and detergent. Then about a half a cup of vinegar, made red. Then we all poured them in together, and there were eruptions all around. The beauty is that we could then just hose them off and send them home so they can erupt them again as many times as they like!
The kids all got muddy and wet but they were completely happy and loved the day. Levi had to keep coming inside to play chess as a bit of a break but generally he too had a fabulous time.
