Friday Night

It is Friday night after a very long day. I had to see a kid in town late and so Levi came with me. He actually loves these trips out and loves to play around with wheelchairs esp power chairs. He is lovely with the kids. I think that it may be possible for all kids to be 'blind' to disability. It is great to see Levi see and talk to the kid rather than to the chair they are sitting in. I hope more than anything that it is a skill that he retains.
I am now watching TV that doesn't flick all the time. One of my work mates is moving and I am the lucky recipient of their second TV until they set up the XBox room in the new house. Can't wait for that one. Hopefully that won't be until June, because I can get a new TV in June (we are paid 3 times in June).
Levi was trying to decide who he was going to marry today and although Ruby continues to come out on top, now Claudia and Emily are also making appearances. He had music today and taught me songs on the drive to my appointment.
I am mostly excited and happy that we have three days off again this weekend. Seems silly to have two in a row but I am not complaining

Today I had a short day so I went to see Clash of the Titans in 3D in the afternoon. It is not a movie that will ever be up for an award but it was a great way to stop thinking for about 2 hours. I think that I am still getting used to the 3D trend, and am not quite the convert yet. It seems odd to have over sized glasses on and I find the movies quite dark with them on. Maybe it is just the choice of movie I am watching. Levi definitely won't be going to this one for a while. Heck, he didn't make it through "How to train your dragon", so I'm really sure that having a Kraken head come out of the screen at you would be enough to haunt him forever.
Jane had a supply teaching job today in Prep at Samford. She was happy to report that all the teachers love him. Now we have cleared up (cleared the air??) the fact that he can actually do more than pee at school, he was happier today as well. Hard to concentrate when all you want to do is go home to go to the toilet. Poor kid! Misconception number 1 of his school life. It will be interesting to see what that number would be if we kept track through his school life.
Things I'm thinking about: That USA in June seems less likely; Sodium and mitochondria; how beautiful it would be if Levi still "loves me more than anything" at 14.

Does this couch make me look big?

Levi came out and wanted to sleep near me because he was lonely. He started in the beanbag but then squeezed himself into this kid's couch. I love it because a friend has an active 18month old boy and the same couch and I can just see it being used until he is nearly 5 too.
We called Robert for his birthday. I gave the phone to Levi who brought it back in a minute in tears because "Robert can't speak to me right now!". It's hard to not laugh. I explained that he was talking to a machine and Levi calmed down. He calmed down and was able to leave a happy message. I got to talk later and could explain the strange message to Robert; that and that his present would be really late as I mailed it yesterday.
Levi had a 'really good' day today and I love hearing him say that. Too many adults just have 'fine' days or 'OK' days. It is lovely to hear a little boy so happy with just a regular day!

Now where did I put that wrench!

Well when you don't have a pocket, where else would you put your tools??! Levi told me today that he liked daycare better than school because at daycare you can take your shoes off all day. It would be great if all life was that simple wouldn't it.
I am still not sure if I am going to the big DMD conference in June. The organizer asked me in February but I still haven't heard. I asked the other physio Helen and she hasn't heard either so it is still likely a goer, but I wish I knew so I could plan ahead; that and I could buy a flight for Levi as well.

At school today, Levi's class had a puppet show about cancer, so he came home talking about how you kill cancer with special medecine that makes your hair fall out. There was a bad puppet that teased the puppet who didn't have any hair. I asked if any of the kids in his class ever teased Ethan for not having hair. He replied in a shocked voice: "Oh Mum, no one would ever tease Ethan, only puppets tease sick kids". His mate Ethan has Neuroblastoma and he has only made it for a few days of school this year. At least Ethan went to daycare with Levi and his mates so he doesn't have to make friends each time he makes it in.

Levi riding his bike

Levi concentrating on his scooter. Yes he really was that red!!

Anzac day in Samford

In the Beginning

This is me trying out the blogging world. Who knows how long this lasts. It could be a minute or it could be years. It is mostly for Levi. Everyday he does wonderful things and says funny quips or insightful comments and they will get lost in the mists or time and fading memory. It is also where I can chat (to myself really but to friends as well) about how life is going, under the house.
Today we had a great day. Levi by some sort of miracle woke after 7am, not much after admittedly but at least it WAS after. It is always a calmer day when we are just here by ourselves. Jane and Jo are still in Esk. I mowed and mowed and mowed, mostly with a mower with only three wheels. In an amazing discovery, it seems that you can mow just as well on three wheels as you can on four.
Then we went to Teresa's place. Well to Robbie's house if you ask Levi. They are fabulous friends and it is fun to watch them play together. I love to be able to just talk without feeling that I have to watch for other agendas or worry about thinking really hard before I open my mouth. I always feel so much better after an afternoon debriefing and I am so grateful. I am always able to go forward but there seems to be more of a spring to my step after a trip there.
We went to the ANZAC day service and parade yesterday. Levi thought that the music was great esp the "Lamppost" (Last post!). I suspect that he will be more musical than his mother. I hope he gets that from his Dad.Add Image I am going to try to put photos in here but it may be well beyond my capacity for tonight at least.
